Cocktails Anyone?
Campus Circle's guide to L.A.'s bar scene
by Jessica Machado
Dimples, Burbank's Shangri-La of karaoke, may have finally met its match in Sardo's. The renovaated bar/lounge welcomes anyone from tone-deaf drunkards to celebrity crooners to
try out their brand new sound system and three high definition screens. Once a hole-in-the-wall for the oldest bar patrons in Toluca Lake, Sardo's reopened in January under new management, attracting a more energetic clientele of rock n' roll hopefuls.
Unlike Dimples, Sardo's is less a meat market for Britney Spears wannabes and more of a laid-back hangout with its roomy booths, stained-glass light fixtures and red-striped wallpaper. Although it's marketed as a sports bar and karaoke lounge, its greatest asset is its comfortable atmosphere and neighborhood bar appeal--a winning combination for success in the beer-loving town of Burbank.
